Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect information needed to operate accounts, memberships, research tools, support, and Service improvement.

• Information you provide. Name, email, password or authentication details, profile photo, contact-form contents, saved listings, dossier or guidance requests, preferences, and related account activity.
• Payment information. If you buy a membership, payment is processed by Stripe (or similar processors). We receive billing status, plan, and limited payment metadata; we do not store full card numbers.
• Information from providers. If you sign in with Google, Apple, X, or similar, we receive identifiers and profile details those providers share with us.
• Information collected automatically. IP address, device and browser data, pages viewed, referring URLs, approximate location derived from IP, cookies, and similar usage or diagnostic data.

2. How we use information

We use information to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service; create and manage accounts and memberships; process payments and prevent fraud; save research activity; respond to inquiries; provide optional buyer support or partner introductions; communicate about the Service (including transactional mail, new-listing alerts, and the Akiya X newsletter); understand usage; enforce our Terms; and comply with law. Newsletter open and click events are measured by our email provider so we can see which issues and links are useful. We may create and use aggregated or de-identified data—including interactions with scores and categories—for analytics and to improve our proprietary algorithms. Aggregated or de-identified data is not personal information under this Policy.

3. Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics, to operate, measure, and improve the Service. You can control cookies through your browser; disabling them may limit functionality. We do not respond to every “Do Not Track” signal in a uniform way.

4. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties such as Stripe (payments), authentication providers, Google Analytics, Google Maps, hosting and email vendors, and property-data sources. Brevo (Sendinblue) sends the Akiya X newsletter and records delivery, open, click, bounce, and unsubscribe events. Subscriber names and email addresses are shared with Brevo as a data processor for that purpose. Their handling of data is governed by their own policies, which we do not control. Links and embedded third-party content may allow those parties to collect information about you.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share information: with service providers who assist us (under obligations appropriate to their role); with payment processors to complete transactions; with independent professionals or partners when you request an introduction or hand-off; when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or the Service; in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets; and among Snack Software, LLC affiliates to operate and improve the Service. We may also share aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify you.

6. Data retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain accounts and billing records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legitimate business or legal requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymized when practicable. Backup copies may persist for a limited period.

7. Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and are not liable for unauthorized access beyond our reasonable control.

8. Your choices & rights

You may update certain account details in your account settings. Depending on your location (including California and other U.S. states with privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to opt out of certain processing. We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights available by law. To make a request, use our contact form. We may verify your identity and decline requests as permitted by law (for example, where retention is required for billing, security, or legal compliance).

9. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their information. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.

10. International users

The Service is operated from the United States. By using it, you consent to transfer and processing of your information in the United States and other jurisdictions, which may have different (including less protective) data-protection laws than your own. U.S. law may compel disclosure to government authorities.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest version. Material changes may also be noted on the Service. Your continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
